Company History
Leigh Hearon Investigative Services began business in 1992.
Our client list stretches from Seattle to Singapore. Our cases
have been featured on Unsolved Mysteries,
America's Most Wanted, 48 Hours, Court TV, and City Confidential, as well as in local
and national news publications.
We work on behalf of people accused of crimes as well as
unsolved crimes, and have a good rapport with law enforcement
agencies across the country.
Leigh Hearon is a former journalist, which requires many
of the same skills demanded of an investigator. She holds
a master's degree from The American University in Washington,
D. C., and a B. A. in Communications from Lewis & Clark
College, Portland, Oregon.
Before becoming a private detective, Ms. Hearon worked for
The American News Service in Washington, D. C., The
Washington Monthly, The Oregon Times, and Microsoft Corporation. She
has received numerous awards in the field of journalism and
writing.
Her belief and commitment in supporting women in a traditionally
male-dominated field led her to establish one of the few all-female
detective agencies in the country.
"Female detectives have a highly-developed sense of
intuition and a level of persistence that have proven remarkably
successful in the investigative field," Ms. Hearon says.
With this in mind, Hearon brought in two new investigators
in the past two years: Nan Allen, who has 40 years' experience
in accounting, to assist with financial fraud investigations,
document retrieval, and record searches; and Staci Matthes,
who also has roots in journalism, including positions with
the Port Townsend Leader and as co-publisher of the Olympic
Business Journal. Staci assists Hearon with criminal, civil,
and private cases, including surveillance.
"When most people call our agency, they're in acute
need of assistance," Ms. Hearon says. "Our job is
to accurately access their situation and offer relevant advice
to their needs. When we're able to help them, we will. If
not, we will refer prospective clients to another resource
that can more expediently or cost-efficiently do the job.
"Helping other people solve their problems is our job
- no matter where the solution to that problem lies."

"I am a criminal defense attorney in private practice
handling cases at all different levels of the criminal justice
system. For the past nine years I have relied exclusively on
Leigh Hearon for all of my investigative needs. Why? Because,
quite simply, she is the best.”
